Finishing up 2017 and New Beginnings for 2018
I got 10 quilts completed for 2017 – 4 more than my goal. For 2018 my goal is to complete at least one each month.
My first completed quilted for 2018 is a hexie Christmas quilt that I started years ago. Finally quilted it and bound it and here’s the finished quilt. (Sorry for the picture being out of focus.)
There are 2 others that only need binding and I hope to get those done before the end of the month. There are also 4 quilts that have been sent to Missouri Star Quilt Company to be quilted. I should receive them back in the next few weeks but I’m in no real hurry to get them.
I had planned to participate in 2 new quilt-alongs beginning this month and have made a couple of blocks for the Project of Doom quilt-along. It’s a free Harry Potter bookcase quilt designed by Jennifer Ofenstein at fandominstitches.com, along with blocks designed by others that are posted on that site. The other is a Land Before Time quilt-along (also found at fandominstitches.com) but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do that one right now. Maybe later this year. But right now other things have taken priority.
The first priority is the birth of my first grandson on January 7th. Meet Garrick (AKA Flash). I think Nana Susan may be a bit preoccupied with that little bundle. I do, however, hope to make the Land Before Time quilt made for his first birthday.
The last Project of Doom quilt that I made was for him and is now hanging above his bed.
I have also had a great niece request a quilt for her son who is due in June. So I need to figure out what quilt I’m going to make for him.
So my top quilting priorities for the year are:
- Project of Doom wall hanging for my nephew and his new wife. (2 blocks made, 10 to go.)
- T-shirt quilt for a friend’s daughter who is graduating this year.
- Binding the 2 wall hangings I have quilted.
- Bind the quilts as they come in from MSQC.
I also have plans to make 50 (or more) tote bags for Athena’s Run in September. I have purchased 10 yards of fabric and had the Athena’s Run logo digitized so that I can embroider it on the front of the tote.
Wish me luck!
